Gongs, sound baths and the numbers behind them
Look up a frequency, hear it, and see where it comes from. Every entry says how well it is supported: measured, derived, traditional or speculative.

Four labels, one on every entry
A measured value, a note worked out from one, a pitch that comes from a tradition of practice, and a health claim are different kinds of statement. This site keeps them apart.
Here is one entry of each kind. Press play to hear it.
What the four labels mean- Tuning Fork — A440 (Concert Pitch)StandardThe international standard for concert pitch: the A above middle C.440.00 Hz
- Earth Year (Cosmic Octave)DerivedOne Earth year, doubled 32 times, comes to this tone. It is calculated, not recorded: the orbit of the Earth makes no sound.136.10 Hz
- Tibetan Singing Bowl (Medium)TraditionalA typical pitch for a singing bowl of this size. Real bowls vary, and each makes several tones at once.256.00 Hz
- 432 Hz Tuning (A4)SpeculativeA real way of tuning. Every note comes out about 32 cents lower than in standard tuning, a third of a piano-key step. The claims that it is healthier or more natural are not established.432.00 Hz
